Welcome
Hello, I am a counsellor who works in Monmouth and online. Welcome to my website. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space in which you can talk about whatever may be bothering you. Please explore these pages to find out more about me and how I may be able to help.
To arrange a free initial chat on the phone to find out more, please send me an email with your details.
MY APPROACH
My approach is integrative, which means that I draw on different therapeutic disciplines believing that there is not just one way to help in all situations. The therapeutic relationship is central because it is in a trusting relationship that healing and change can happen most effectively. I am adept at working in a solution focused way for short term work, or in a deeper and more explorative way for longer term work.
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and member of the UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) and abide by their code of ethics.
I AM TRAINED TO WORK WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF ISSUES.
Particularly if this is your first-time seeking therapy, it can feel daunting but I would encourage you to get in touch even if you feel unsure. People come with family issues, parenting troubles, all sorts of anxiety, a wish to find more confidence or direction, or wanting to recover from troubling events in their past.

Trauma therapy
I have a particular interest and experience working with those who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence, including emotional abuse. I can help you out of crisis and to find a sense of safety. Together we can find better ways to cope in the here and now, and improve wellbeing. Therapy can give you an opportunity to tell your story and make sense of what happened, and work more deeply if you wish, helping you to leave unhelpful patterns and narratives behind.
Creativity
For some people talking feels right. For others, words are not the easiest way to express difficult thoughts or feelings. I can use a range of creative approaches depending on what your passions and interests are. I sometimes use objects or drawings to help me understand more about you and your story. Writing, reading, visualising or making things are all examples of things that could be helpful.

What to Expect
I offer a free initial phone conversation in which you can briefly outline what is troubling you and we can decide whether I am the right person to help. I am currently not working with couples or under 18s.
For sessions in person, I work from a private and cosy room in Monmouth. Alternatively I can offer therapy online - or a combination. In the first session, I may ask you about your health, current circumstances and past. This first and subsequent weekly sessions last 50 minutes and cost £50.
Finding the right therapist for you is important, so please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions you might have. I look forward to hearing from you.
