About Me
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and registered member of The UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP). My four-year training at Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling was a demanding process in which I was stretched to understand myself at a deeper level. I continue to have a rigorous amount of professional supervision, and as a member of the UKCP, I abide by their code of ethics.
From my cosy room in Monmouth, South Wales I see people with a wide variety of issues. I also co-manage the counselling service at Mind Monmouthshire in Abergevenny. Previously, I worked for Horizon, a service that supports men and women who have been subjected to sexual violence and abuse. I am also a trained Bereavement Volunteer for CRUSE Bereavement.
I have worked as a support worker in the mental health field with issues such as homelessness and substance misuse. I spent many years working on a helpline at a grass-roots organisation supporting those who self-harm.
As a well as being a counsellor, I am a visual artist and theatre maker. Over the years, I have written, performed and toured theatre shows. I have taught mask theatre and puppetry to diverse groups including Masters degree Drama students. As a live performer and teacher, I am intuitive and responsive to my audiences or participants. This has helped me attune closely to my counselling clients, and to relate comfortably to others from all backgrounds and walks of life.
